Abstract

Transmission Expansion Planning has been taken at the top most priority due to the vast demand growth in the last few years. Many researchers have initially proposed several models for the vertically integrated utility and then shifted for the restructured environment in later years.

The transmission expansion algorithms were initially based on the least cost. Since last few years, with the advent of fast and accurate computerized tools, the planning for transmission expansion has experienced a drastic improvement.

Many optimization algorithms with the greater level of uncertainty have been introduced under both regulated and deregulated environment. This paper reviews the transmission expansion planning models proposed so far, with an overview of transmission expansion planning (static and dynamic) along with the classification of various algorithms
